Counselling services for men who have survived sexual or domestic abuse

Boys and men experience sexual and domestic violence far more frequently than is commonly assumed. For this reason, in 2012 our centre started offering special counselling and support services for male survivors of violence. The counselling sessions take place in special rooms that are on a different level of the building than the women’s centre.

Our services are aimed at men aged 16+ who have survived sexual or domestic abuse as children or adults. Individuals and professionals who require information and counselling are also very welcome to get in touch.

You can either receive counselling on the phone or in a personal session, and you can choose whether you want to speak with a female or a male worker. Appointments for personal sessions can be arranged by calling us during our office hours or you can leave a message on the answer machine and we will call back as soon as possible.

Where can I access these services in Schleswig-Holstein?

Since 2016, the counselling services have been part of a model project that is funded by the Ministry of Social Affairs in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. As well as the counselling centre in Kiel, there are two other centres in Schleswig-Holstein that offer advice and counselling: Wagemut, operated by pro familia, offers counselling services in Flensburg, and in Elmshorn the Wendepunkt counselling centre also provides a range of advice and counselling services.
